Military recruiters can often be found on our campus in the main hall during lunch.

Coast Guard General requirements:

  • You must be a S. citizen or a Resident Alien.
  • Be between the ages of 17-35 for active duty (full-time) or 17-40 for reserve (part-time).
  • Have a high school diploma (GEDs accepted in with waiver).
  • Have no more than three
  • Score a 36 or higher on the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) If you took the test at your school or with another branch, we can use the score. If you have not taken the test or would like to improve your score, your recruiter will arrange at test date at MEPS.
  • Qualify medically during the military entrance medical Your Recruiter will schedule the exam at MEPS.
  • Pass a police background You cannot have pending legal actions, or felony offense on your record. Since the Coast Guard is a federal law enforcement agency, you must be legal allowed to own a firearm to be eligible for hiring.
  • Pass a credit check to verify no debts in past due Credit requirements relate to eligibility for a security clearance.
  • Meet the Coast Guard’s Whole Person Evaluation (CG-WPE). The CG-WPE considers your attitude, professionalism, honesty, respect, language proficiency, weight/physical abilities, and work
