Marshfield Families,

October is always an exciting and busy time at Marshfield High School! We kicked off the month with Homecoming Week, October 6–10, and it was great to see our students and staff show their Pirate Pride during the festivities. The Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 11, will be a memorable way to wrap up the week of celebration and school spirit.

As we move further into fall, our sports seasons are nearing their conclusion, and we’re proud of the dedication and effort our student-athletes have shown. Several of our teams are preparing for district and state playoff competition, and we encourage everyone to continue supporting them as they represent Marshfield with pride and determination.

This month also includes several important academic events. On October 14, students will participate in our schoolwide testing day, which includes the ACT, Pre-ACT, ACT Work Keys, and ASVAB assessments. Later in the month, on October 29, students will take the SAT and PSAT. These opportunities help students plan for their future goals and gain valuable testing experience.

In addition, college planning season is underway. The FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) opened on October 1, and we encourage all seniors and their families to complete it as soon as possible to maximize financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Throughout October, Marshfield will also host college representative visits from several Oregon public universities, including the University of Oregon, Oregon State University, and Portland State University. These visits are an excellent opportunity for students to learn more about programs, admissions, and campus life.

As we look ahead, please note that the end of the first quarter is November 7. Students are encouraged to check their progress, connect with teachers, and take advantage of tutoring or support opportunities to finish the quarter strong.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Marshfield High School. Together, we’re helping every Pirate chart a successful course through the school year.

Go Pirates!
