Superintendent Update: Latest County Case Counts and Community Notification

April 20, 2021

Dear Coos Bay Schools Families and Community,

The latest case numbers have been posted and our county has held relatively steady for the most current two-week look back. We are at 115 cases per 100,000 residents; a very slight increase from last week by a couple of cases.

We have had a few cases impact our schools the past two weeks. Millicoma has two classroom cohorts in quarantine as well as a bus route that is shared with Eastside. Coos Health and Wellness is continuing to monitor the bus cohort at this time. Marshfield High School has had a few students quarantined due to an exposure that impacted that school as well. The good news is that with the health safety protocols we follow in our schools (most importantly wearing face coverings, hand washing, and maintaining 6 ft social distancing) that we have not had spread within our school buildings. As always, I will keep you updated on information as it comes in.
