This promises to be a big weekend for Marshfield High School sports teams as the school’s cross country, volleyball, boys soccer and girls soccer will all be in postseason action, while the Marshfield football team will wrap up the regular season.
Here is a breakdown of the sporting events coming up from Athletic Director Greg Mulkey.
CROSS COUNTRY
Our cross country team will travel to Lane Community College with high expectations for the boys team to earn a trip to the OSAA State Finals set for November 5 at Lane Community College.
GIRLS SOCCER
For the first time in school history, our girls soccer team will host an 4A play-in contest. The girls will compete with St. Helens High School Friday, October 28 starting at 4:00 PM.
BOYS SOCCER
Last year our boys soccer hosted an OSAA playoff and this year we have the Cascade Cougars coming to town for a 4A play-in contest starting at 12:30 PM Saturday, October 29 at Kent Wigle Field.
VOLLEYBALL
This Saturday, October 29, our #1 ranked volleyball team will host La Grande High School in the OSAA round of 16. The match is scheduled to start at 3:00 PM in Pirate Palace. With a win this Saturday, the Lady Pirates will earn a trip to the elite 8- OSAA State Tournament held at Springfield High School November 4-5. The volleyball match may be heard on KMHS radio 105.1.
FOOTBALL
Our JV and varsity football teams will travel to Mazama High School Friday, October 28. This is the last regular season contest. If the varsity wins, there will be a 3-way tie for 1st place in the Big Sky Conference. The Pirates have clinched a spot in the OSAA bracket of 16 with the first round playoff contest set for Friday, November 4. The opponent- TBD. Friday, the JV game will start at 4:30 with the varsity to follow at 7:00. Varsity game may be heard on KMHS 105.1.
PLAYOFF TICKETS
Tickets for the OSAA playoffs may be bought online by going to the OSAA website- www.osaa.org. Once you are on their home page, click on the State Championship Digital Tickets in the upper right corner of their website. Also, you have the option to pay at the door with credit card or cash. The admission for the three OSAA playoffs is set by the OSAA staff.
