For research at Marshfield High School, students have access to Gale and other resources through the Oregon School Library Information System website. Click on the link above.

Once at OSLIS, students should click on "secondary student," where they will find information about conducting research, links to research and information for citing sources.

For research purposes, click on the middle icon labeled "I Need to Find Information" with the Gale icon. On the next screen, students will get access to multiple different Gale databases as well as other resources. This page of resources also includes video tutorials students can watch to get more information about the sources they have access to from this page.

Scroll down three rows and click on the farthest choice on the right labeled "All Gale Databases" and with icon labeled "Power Search." This will be a more efficient approach as it allows users to search all databases at one time. Users will be prompted to create an account or provide school information. Select the middle box for public schools and type in "Coos Bay School District" when prompted to enter school district name and click select.

At the top of the next screen, users will see a search box where they can type in the topic for which they are looking for more information. Users will be given initial results that will be divided by the type of medium from which the information is derived. Users may wish to take advantage of the many helpful features, including the highlighting of the search term which may speed up user's ability to discern information, citations in various styles so credit can be properly attributed to the source when necessary, sources can be read to user in audio format, etc.
